News text:

Bisphénol B (BPB - n° CAS : 77-40-7) has been identified on 08/07/2021 as a Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) due to its endocrine disrupting properties for human health and the environment. This decision results in its addition to the candidate list for inclusion on Annex XIV of the REACH regulation. This annex lists the substances for which authorisation is required in order to place them on the European Union market (regarding uses targeted by the REACH Regulation).
This decision further implies that any supplier of articles containing BPB at a concentration higher than 0,1 % (w/w) has communication obligations towards customers down the supply chain and to consumers.

BPB is a substitute for some uses of Bisphenol A (coatings, polymers in contact with food...) used in countries outside the European Union such as the United States.
