At France’s initiative ANSES filed with the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) a draft notice in 2012 within the framework of the CLP (“Classification, Labelling and Packaging”) regulations.

On March 19, 2014, the Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) of ECHA expressed its support for a stricter classification of bisphenol A proposing a modification of the category “presumed reproductive toxicant” to “toxic for reproduction.”

Effective on this date, ECHA has 18 months to submit its opinion to the European Commission, which will decide whether or not to modify the classification of bisphenol A in the CLP regulations.
