By amending Regulation 21 CFR 175.300, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) prohibited the use of BPA in epoxy resins used to coat the packaging of baby milk products. The FDA explained that the regulation was adopted after it was observed that BPA is no longer used for this particular purpose, with the aim of bringing the regulations into line with industrial practices. The new regulation took effect on 12 July 2013.
