Bisphenol A: a substance of very high concern under the REACH Regulation

On the 19 December 2016, the Member State Committee (MSC) unanimously agreed on the identification of bisphenol A as Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) under REACH Regulation.
News text: 

Proposed by France, bisphenol A was identified by the Member State Committee as SVHC (*) due to its toxic reproduction properties (BPA has been classified reprotoxic in the Category 1B since 19/06/16).
This decision, taken on the 19 December 2016, implies the addition of bisphenol A to the list of candidate substances to the Annex XIV of the REACH Regulation. This annex lists substances for which authorization is necessary in order to place them on the market of the European Union (regarding uses targeted by the REACH Regulation).
